I found an excellent deal on a Masterbuilt 30" model 20077515. Its only $160 plus tax. I am a little nervous after reading a lot of the 1 star reviews. Does anyone have any experience with this model. It has a lot of features like RF built in thermometer and front panel controller. From what I gather its their newer design. The rear controllers had a few more complaints so I m hoping they worked out the QA issues.

If you have doubts, keep doing research. Check out the Smoke Hollow units. Their newest model is a bells and whistles laden Smoke Tronix.  It will cost a little more; there is also the smokers from Smokin-it and SmokinTex.  These last two cost a lot more but have had very few problems.

I'm having the same problem that you are.  And the more research I do, the more I tend to shy away from the MES or Smoke Hollow units.  I think I may just have to spend more than I had originally planned on to get something that is going to have few problems and last for awhile.

Pretty difficult decision when one needs to stay within a budget or feels the need to play it safe and get what the majority have. You have to either trust your gut or play it safe.  Maybe a little of both?

Alright Gents,

I did it. I pulled the trigger on a smoker. After all God hates a coward. I was fooling around on google and came across the Masterbuilt model 20079015 McLmore edition at Lowes. Its the same unit everyone is selling with the stainless front door. It just has a different model number. Comes with the RF remote. The reason I chose this, is that Lowes has it for $160. The is pretty darn cheap. The cheapest I found the Black one was $148. So why not. Im seasoning it now. I did get the extra 2 year replacement plan just in case Im in the 15% of people who get a bum one. It is very solid.
