Hi I'm Konrad,
I'm new to smoking jerky and I'm looking to buy a good smoker, not necessarily top of the line, so I can begin learning how to smoke jerky. The reason is I have a new business I'm l launching right now, konradkrates.com. Every month we visit a new state and select the best purveyor we can find and deliver a pound of jerky to your doorstep. (I'm open to suggestions if any one has their favorite place) With that box of jerky is a DIY recipe card. I thought it would be fun to get some guys/gals together (virtually) to try a new recipe every month and see how everyone's turned out. What they liked about it and what they didn't like about it.
What I would like to get from the forum is to learn how to DIY and start smoking jerky. What brought me here was researching "Do I use water or not use water to smoke Jerky"? and "should I use a smoker or just get a dehydrator? and "The meat still has to be cooked before it goes in to the dehydrator correct"?
Thank you for letting me be part of the forum.
Cheers!
Konrad
