Hi everyone I am Woody from Ga and this looks like a really good forum with a lot of info ! I started out years ago with the ECB and have smoked turkeys, hams and sausage. When I saw the Oklahoma Joe's Highlander on sale I decided to move up to a better smoker. After the sale price, my vet discount and cash back on my credit card it was $170 so I do not think that I did too bad on the price. I plan to do some of the mods including sealing the firebox where it joins the smoker, sealing both lids, lowering the exhaust to reach the grill, adding a basket to the firebox and maybe clamps for both lids. There are a lot of mods out there but some of them cost almost as much as what I paid for the smoker. I will start out doing them myself to save money by making the firebox basket and other parts. I look forward to learning a lot and hopefully helping someone else as well !

Thanks NB and I look forward to learning a lot with the new smoker ! I have read a lot about the mods to it online and for the price I had to give it a chance. It is not a $2-3,000 smoker by any means but a lot of people seem to be having good results with it esp after doing some of the mods.
