just to verify, what is called "pink salt" used in curing meats is not the same thing as what is referred to as "pink salt" or Pink Himalayan salt the stuff sold in grocery stores in a grinder bottle.
correct?

That is correct.

Pink curing salt has several names, the most common being Insta cure #1, or Prague powder #1.

Himalayan pink salt is just a variation of regular salt.

Pink salt is just one of the (side names) for cure 1 & 2. AKA Prague powder 1 & 2, Insta cure.

The pink is a tint so you dont confuse it with regular table salt. Some can be a dull tint and others heavy. Try not to use pink himalayan salt for curing. Not saying it wont work but why spend all the $, when Cure 1 is so cheap (and safer)

Sodium nitrate and nitrite in its original form is white like salt.

Dont use either full strength unless you are 100% sure you know how to use.

Thanks. I'll leave the Himalayan pink salt to the Himalayans.
