Displaced Texan in Door County WI
Any of you Houston area folks have any feedback on Killen's in Pearland?  Food Network has it as the #2 brisket destination in the country:  I got their barbecue spice rub and salt/pepper blend as a Christmas gift, and wondered if anyone's used either and what they thought.  Apparently he's the real deal, as he's been in GQ, TX Monthly, and now is selling at the Texans' games in NRG Stadium.

Appreciate any comments.

I ate there a few years ago while visiting friends in Pasadena. I had beef ribs, brisket, beans and corn bread. Everything was delicious. The brisket was a tad bit dry but we got there late in the afternoon, so I figure I was getting leftovers. All-in-all it was worth the money. Don't pass up the bread pudding.

The line wasn't bad. We had about a 30 minute wait. Good family atmosphere. Wait staff we really nice folks.

Killen's is the real deal, Been going to his BBQ place since it opened several years ago. He's just recently expanded the hours of operation to 11-9pm and started doing CFS, ribeyes and strip steaks after 5 pm. We both got the CFS last night and it was very good, crust a little larger than the cut of meat but that happens at a lot of places. The seasoning was spot on, very tasty. You get two sides with it and mine was REAL mashed potatoes and collard greens (extra tasty) with bacon and onions cooked in with the greens.

PS. His  new hamburger joint is nothing to sneeze at either
