At least that's how they are known around here. It's actually a French meat pie recipe. Traditionally this would have been made with wild game. Venison, Elk, big horn sheep.

But not so much anymore. I know this recipe that I am posting has been used since my Great Great Grandmother.

Prior to that wild game would have been the meat portion.

I always do a double batch. Which would make (4) 9" pies.

This time I'm making little pies. I'm hoping to get 12.

Cranky B noticed that the bread crumbs is missing the "cups" for the measurement. So that should be cups.

More in a bit we need to grind the meat!

Here is the pie crust recipe that I used. It makes enough for a top and bottom of a 9" pie. I used three batches to get all of these little pies made.

Those flavors are great. Similar to a Canadian Pork spread, Creton, that I make...JJ

Sorry there won't be any cut picks tonight!

That'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Very creative, different, although I understand based on Grandmother recipe.

Sounds delicious, reminds me of "pastys"

Not sure of spelling , but did not want to say "pasties".    Marc

Your recipe is quite similar to a tourtiere recipe, I do a baked potato in mine w/out the bread crumbs. It is good to keep the family recipes alive ! Points

Yep very similar. In fact I had a small blob of meat left at the end and I did just that. Wrapped it in left over dough. It's going to be breakfast!

Thanks CM! I have seen a recipe with potato instead of bread crumbs. This batch only required half of the bread crumbs to get the right consistency.

Case They look great!! I am saving this for sure Thanks for the recipe Points

Thanks Richie! When I was a kid (and now) I always looked forward to Christmas and meat pies. Traditionally we have always had them for breakfast Christmas morning. Served with scrambled eggs and cranberry jelly.

For those interested I use the Paprika App on my iPhone for recipes. It can be used for meal planning and grocery shopping too. I have used the app for several years now. In the last year they have improved the app significantly. It can parse out ingredients and directions from just about anything. Even on this website now if the ingredients and directions are in the first post it can extract them.

It stores the recipes on your device and in the cloud. That way you can pull up the recipes on other devices too.

I'm not sure how much the full app costs now, it was $4.95 when I bought it. Well worth it for those looking.
