It may be a bit spendy for what you're getting, but the design concept should work. The panels for the dividers hopefully are heavy enough gauge steel to not warp in a manner which would reduce/close the gap and create hot-spots which ignite the neighboring row of awaiting coals prematurely...that would be my main concern. There does seem to be a fair amount of gap between the divider panels to keep it cool enough so the fire doesn't jump rows due to radiant heat...possibly 1" gap, give or take. This is the first I've seen of it or anything like it, made of steel, that is.

Fire bricks are laid-out in the same fashion on a heavy-weight fire grate to accomplish the same goal, with good results. However, fire bricks take up more SFB space than those divider panels, thereby reducing overall fuel capacity and burn time. I'm assuming you're trying to avoid that condition, but if not, fire bricks would be my first recommendation due to cost, simplicity, and ease to modify the configuration.
