Well if finally came in today. Oh man. Such anticipation!  I was like a kid all day peeking out the window looking for the beautiful Fedex truck to stop and ring the doorbell! Ding Dong!

As empty nesters I was looking for a smaller grill to use on weekdays for Teri and I. I still cook LARGE on the weekends for the family that comes over to visit.  ...but most of my gear is overkill when cooking for the wife and I. I went on a Hibachi quest a few weeks back.
The Sumo of Hibachi!

The first thing you will notice is the heft of this unit. This baby isn't one of those throw away units they sell in the charcoal area at the grocery store.  It weighs 33 pounds! AND built to last a lifetime like all Lodge cook wear.  This will certainly still be in the family long after I go to the Barbecue Shack in the sky.
Seven Easy Pieces

Another awesome fact about this grill is that its only in seven parts AND that the parts pack only had 6 items in it! ....2 screws, 2 washers, 2 nuts to bolt the bottom on. All other components are held together by gravity. Easy easy build here folks.
No need to hunt for the instruction sheet.

Lodge thinks of everything. The instructions are printed right on the inner flap of the box! Cool.

Ready?  Time Me!

Thats right. Assembly time took 2 minutes and 46 seconds.  No kiddin!  So...before you can ask, "Sweetheart would you mind grabbing me a beer?" its done!

This is one solid unit. I have no doubt it will be around for a vary long time. I haven't cooked on it yet but Im already in love.  Some equipment just feels good to be around it.  This Lodge Grill is like that. It just oozes the same confidence as your favorite golf club.

Look for serious Sumo Hibachi grilling soon!

Damn you are making me jealous now.

Looks great. I can't wait to see what you produce with that puppy.

Nice new toy.

Gonna be some great food cooked on that.

What's for supper?

I had one of those for years!  When I had an apartment it was just perfect for sitting off the porch and grilling up a few burgers or steaks.  I left that poor thing out in the rain, snow, you name it until it finally just rusted away.

We found the matching top fry pan in my parents basement when we cleaned it out, my brother took it to get sandblasted and beaded and it's now his camp stove fry pan.

What a great little grill!

I didn't know they had a fry pan that would fit the grate.  Guess i'll need to hunt one down! b

Steaks are on Dave.  Great unit. Easy to cook on.  The thick grate reminds me of cooking on a cast iron pan. Great seal on the steak.

Nice Brian...perfect size for steaks for 2 on any random night of the week! We're empty nesters too.. I usually use my Weber kettle for that purpose, but you've got me thinking...

You can never have too many patio toys, right?

LOL Exactly Red.

Repeat after me. "But Honey, I had to buy it because it only uses 1/3 of a chimney of charcoal. Less smoke is better for the environment.  And have you seen the price of charcoal lately?"

LOL b
