I am a newbie when it comes to building smokers.

I do have a question about smokers.   From what I have read most people say that the fire box differential should be approx 100-110%. I have been looking at the plans from a Yoder Wichita and the fire box is approx 150% more.  How do they make this work?

Thanks in advance
