Hi there,
I salvaged a Chinese made pellet smoker that had electricity problems (similar to Traeger Texas Elite). I ripped out all the electronics and verified that all the mechanics work (auger, fans and heat element). It actually had Ortech made controller, probably identical to the real thing...
I'm going to replace the electronics with PID. I have previous experience with PID, but I'm not sure how to program it with pellet smoker.
It's not the Auber PID that has been recommended on various forums and there are no settings for output low or high limit. Do you think it would still work? What is the reasoning behind those output low and high limits? Is it because running the auger too often would wear it out...? Wouldn't setting the cycle time be adequate for preventing the auger from doing very short on/off cycles...? Or am I missing something here?
