I came across this forum while looking for info on building a smoker. My wife and daughter-in-law have asked me to build them a smokehouse. They plan to on cold & hot smoking. So, any suggestions on design & what to read to get me going in the right direction will be appreciated.
Our 2 families live on neighboring properties in Harvest,AL, and have plenty of area to build a smokehouse. Our families buy at least 1 cow & 1 pig each year. This gives us plenty of meat to try our hand at smoking.

Welcome to the forum. This is a great place to learn and share ideas. The search bar works great for finding info. If you don't find an answer, start a thread and wait for several different answers.

Welcome to the board! There are many DIY builds here.

I like some I've seen here where a vertical chamber cooks, and for hot smoking there's a firebox directly under it. For cold smoking  there's an offset firebox with a flue to carry the smoke sideways to the cooking chamber.

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a nice chilly day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.
