Hello I'm new to this. Im in South Dakota and looking to get into smoking. I don't have any smoker yet, but I'm looking in to it. I found a lot of good information on your site. I would prefer to build my own smoker, thinking mes40 type. Or I may end buying one in the long run. I want to be able to do both hot and cold smokes. Looking at mostly smoking hams, bacons, beef sticks, and maybe some sausages. I got my wife convinced into buying one, but I need to work on a new lawn mower first. So looking at getting started right around beginning of the summer.

Welcome from SC. This is a great site with lots of really good folks who are always eager to share their ideas and tips. All you have to do is ask and keep reading. Search the site for the section on smokers and you will find a ton of information to help with your research.

Good luck in your search and good smokin', Joe
