Hello all

Hi everyone!

I have a stainless steel over/under double door freezer I have converted into a smoker. I've been using a Weber smoky joe for a heat source with works great..almost! No problem getting it up to temp but maintaining a temp without it running away has been quite the challenge.

Im going to change over to electric and was wondering about using a hot plate but have a couple of questions.

How big? I'm wondering if a single 1100 watt will generate enough heat or do I need a double burner?

I am going to use the old fan furnace temp sensor to regulate it. On at 150 off at 180.

The smoker is about 5ftx2ftx2ft.

Thanks for the advice in advance!

Welcome to SMF.

I can't help you with your question, but if you head on over to the Fridge/Freezer Builds section and ask your question there, you'll have a better chance on getting some help.

Good luck with your build. Looking good so far!
