Brand new to the site, been using the search function all night though. Need some advice.

I won a Masterbuilt electric smoker from work and fired it up last night. Did the seasoning, and everything went smooth. Around 2:30AM I put a 10lb pork but at 230 degrees on. Went to sleep but set alarm for 3 hours. When I got up, the smoker had shut off at some point. No idea when! Meat was warm to the touch, the smoker said it was 86 degrees inside, so I immediately fired it back up. Been running strong at 230 degrees since with no issues.

My question, is the meat possibly bad? I have no idea how long it was off in that 3 hour time frame. Outside temp was mid 50s last night. Should I throw it out or is it ok?

Many thanks in advance for your help here!

Welcome from SC. Glad to have you on the site. IMHO, the cooker was at 86* after only 3 hours. The meat never had a chance to get into the safe zone. I know it's about $35 or $40, but it's not the chance I'm going to take. You will get some other replies, but that's my $0.02 worth.

There are great folks here who will gladly share their ideas and tips. All you have to do is ask and keep reading. Good luck and good smokin', Joe

What was the temp of the meat? I think that would be important for me to know before throwing out considering it was only a couple of hours with the smoker off.
