Just installed gasket kit to my WSM 18.5

Just wanted to share pictures of my newly installed gasket on my WSM 18.5 around the door and lid. I used the 1/2" wide 1/8" thick tape. So far the door looks like it seals pretty well and the lid feels great when you put it on and it feels like a cushion.

I also left a little opening on the lid so that i can squeeze a thermometer cable between and still allow the lid to sit flush with the rim.

Will let you guys know how it performs on the next smoke! Can't wait to try it out!

Used my smoker with the gasket for the first time yesterday. All i gotta say is Thumbs Up. Zero smoke leaks. I feel like its more solid and less charcoal is being wasted now.

All things BBQ here in town has gasket material for the big green egg and the kamado devices. Would this work for the door on my WSM?

Hey Ivanstein, i used the nomex gasket.. the 1/8" thick 1/2" wide worked for the door perfectly.. its very snug at first but after its been on for a while it compresses down and fits better

i used the nomex 1/8" thick 1/2" wide self stick on the top as well...

i cleaned just the rim part with water and alot of napkins, swiped the cleaned area with rubbing alcohol, then carefully stuck the gasket tape on like as if it were blue painters tape... (stuck one end on, pulled it straight with one hand, and then used my other hand to adjust and press it down, repeat until you have a full circle)

Hi LetTheMeatRest,

How many feet did you order? Any update on how it's still performing after more uses? Starting to peel or or wear? Thanks!
