Newb smoker

Thread Starter

Hi everyone,

I live in South Eastern MO.

I am a metal fabricator/machinist by day and am thinking about making my own smoker. If you have any good smoker build threads I would love to read them.

I am new to smoking, I have already started a thread in fish grilling.

I enjoy bow fishing carp, they have a bad rep at the table. I'm trying to find a way to eat them. Last year I probably left near five hundred pounds of carp on the shore line. If there is a way to cook them, it seems like a waste to leave them on the shore.

If you have any recipes or any experience at all with carp please share.

Thank you for reading

Alonzo

Welcome alonzo83! welcome.gif
Be sure to use the search bar at the top of the page to search for builds and recipes. There is a good chance that someone along the line has had the same question. There are also tons of DIY smoker builds. The easiest and least expensive to start with is the mini WSM. Glad to have you here and enjoy the forums!

Thanks guys,

I was browsing the forum earlier and came across a gentleman who had gave very detailed instructions on preparing and  smoking carp. :439:

I also stumbled across a very helpful video on filleting the bones and unwanted meat out.

I got a little wally world chepo brinkmann to start testing the waters so I can decide how big of a smoker I really want/need. Or make modifications to this one.

and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...
Happy smoken.
David
