I am a new member in Austin, TX.  I have cooked ribs on my gas grill a few times but never smoked anything.  My ten year old Kenmore gas grill bit the dust recently and I researched gas grills for a month or so before deciding to buy a Broil King Regal 490.  It gets very hot very fast and I like it fine so far.

In the process of researching the gas grill I got hooked on You-tube videos for Barbeque Pit Boys and BBQ Guys where I became aware of pellet grill/smokers.  So far I am most attracted to the Yoder YS-480 and am also considering the REC TEC and Louisiana Grills LG-Series.  It may be a year or two before I make a purchase.  I look forward to learning from all of you.
