Hello. I am certainly no expert but thinking this over I can see a possible problem. On reverse flow the stack is on the same end as the firebox. This forces the heat to travel from the opening in the reverse flow plate all the way across the smoker to exit. In your idea I can envision one hot side and one cold side to your smoker as the heat MAY travel to the opening and then up the side and out the stack. I think it might also negate the heat sink effect by moving the heat quicker to one side and out the stack. Just my opinion. Others may have different advice. Good luck. Keep Smokin!
