GH, morning........ Here is my "calculator" that is a take of from Feldons.....
250 gallons x 231 cu in / gallon = 57,750 cu in in the tank.... Run the numbers using this calc. and see what you come up with..... Also consider an opening directly across from the FB/CC opening to help with the heat moving from the FB to the CC..... Some folks have found that to be a good thing....
Using the circle calculator below, makes for more room in the smoker for cooking grates, is what I have found, when figuring the FB/CC opening...
The folks on this forum really do know how to build some of the best smokers you will find.... They are here to help and give great advice...
I must agree, everybody here are great folks.I have seen a lot great builds here.I have read a lot of threads that have helped me tremendously.A big thank you to all.
Here is what I came up with.I not sure I understand the circle calculator.Do i need the look at the sector area or segment area for the opening? If i understand right I need to look at segment area.
I do have plans for a air vent in the door.Is there a minimum size ?
GH.... I guess I should clean up the calculator.... I use it to help folks.... makes it easier for me.....
Anywho.......... The FB/CC opening, as the smoker calculator figures, is the "segment" area in the circle calculator... I usually adjust the "segment Height ED" until the segment area ends up what the FB/CC opening is recommended..... or close......
Then, the Chord AB, is the width of the RF plate......
