Little Korean influenced BBQ tonight.

Soy sauce 2/3cup

Sesame oil 1tbsp

Brown sugar 4tbsp

Onion powder 1 1/2 tsp

Garlic powder 2 tsp

Ginger powder 2 tsp

Black pepper

La-Yu chili oil 20-30 drops

Normally I would use fresh onion, ginger and garlic but I wanted to inject so I used the powdered stuff

Mini is warming up. Cherry and Pecan. Plan on running right at 265.

Off the mini and ready for a 45 min rest, then dinner!!!!

Boiled down the marinade extra and made a sauce. Will serve over jasmine rice.

The soy based injection created dark spots in the meat that couldn't be seen until I sliced the meat across the grain. With the grain you couldn't see them.

Thanks JJ! I have to agree, Korean, and Vietnamese are some of my favorite foods! I have a friend whose mom is Korean and his dad is Hispanic, both are chefs. Talk about some interesting combinations they come up with in the kitchen! So Good!

Make an extra batch of the marinade and thicken it with corn starch for sauce, so good over rice!

Bulgogi, tri tip, jasmine rice? I'd be all over that!!!

Have you ever tried bi bim bop?

My favorite Korean dish is the vegetable pancake... At my current job we use to have an intern program with a culinary school in Korea. The girls were rock stars culinary wise! The guys were useless...

For some reason the girls have a thing for older guys named woody!

Thanks Woody!

I have had Bibimbap a few times when I have been traveling in San Fran and San Diego. Unfortunately I haven't found Korean restaurant in Oregon that's worth a hoot! There's probably something up in Portland. I am not found of the ones that serve raw egg in it. I'm okay with a sunny side up egg though.

We just finally got a Vietnamese restaurant that actually is really good. In fact I will be going there today to get my weekly serving of Tai Chin Nac PHO. You would like the Banh Xeo its a crispy crepe the Vietnamese serve. super yummy and similar to the Korean Pa Jun (pajeon). The Vietnamese version is crispy and usually doesn't have eggs. Served with a fish sauce based dipping sauce, so good!
