Hi Guy's.

I thought it only polite to say hello, so hello.

Iam a middle aged old duffer, who is getting grumpier by the day, but I do like the good things in life. I have a smashing wife, who pretty much lets me get away with murder, and I can just about do anything I want so long as Iam not in her way.

I live in Nottingham, England, and there are a good few guy's this way who excel at BBQ and smoking, unlike most of my fellow countrymen, who's idea of a BBQ is the smouldering remains of supermarket sawdust sausage and carpet burgers.

I have made my own BBQ and a ugly drum smoker, which work a treat, and have successfully catered for 56 folks at my 50th birthday.

Here's a link to my Photobucket page. this will give you an idea of where Iam at.

But, my friend and neighbour & myself are getting interested in cold smoking. We have purchased the ProQ cold smoke generators, and now have a filing cabinet each to desecrate and turn into our own cold smokers. My friend works in a sawmill, and has already made bags of various wood dust for the smokers, so other than some metal work and a bit of a burning, we are good to go.

I look forward to browsing the forum and getting some idea's and hopefully contributing when I have my feet under the table. :)

Hello Bas and welcome to the fun.  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

Nice job on the bbq Baz, bit like Stephenson's Rocket had sex with a Lang ! Nice Steampunk look to it and a good variety of firing options. Is the rotisserie like a cage that holds the chooks ?

There's a few ideas on there I might borrow. I started building a patio size unit this summer but a heart attack got in the way, will get it finished soon tho !

We're just heading off to a bonfire bbq at a friends and you're spot on about British bbq's so we've had some scoff before we go.

Thanks for the welcomes, very much appreciated.

I have just got off Ebay, buying bits to build a cold smoke generator, so we will see how that turns out. But looking at the Youtube vids, they go well.

Nice looking equipment. I really liked the K-Bob rack. You can tell all your builds got a lot of thought in them.

Dang almost enough from across the pond to start your own group..... Lets see, the Sherwood Forest group?

Thanks for sharing you builds, and welcome to the boards.
