my first butt q-view

Well guys...i decided to try my hand at smokin a butt.Ive smoked a small brisket and a rack of ribs with mixed results so i decided to try a more forgivin meat.I didnt get a pic of the butt when i started but heres one @ 7hr @ 170. Loving the amount of bark but i think i might have went a touch heavy on the cayenne....



I'm also doing a cherry-pineapple dump cake

Thread Starter therm is showing 180 with a touch over 4hrs left... i did accu check the therm last night to make sure it was right,,,,could i be facing a soon stall period or is it just cooking fast? ive had it around 250-255ish.

How big is it? Is it bone in or not?

Update...right @ 12 hrs and we are at 197 for IT...... pulled it from the oven and getting ready to double wrap it......... 


Dillo' eggs ready to go on the grill...


Next...ill post pics of everything done.......comments?????????

Well..i feel my first butt smoke was a complete success despite a few problems with temp management on my are the final pics.....


Pulled pork..beautiful smoke ring and very moist...


 i created my own finishing sauce which consisted on 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, 1 cup of  apple juice, 1/3 cup of apple pie moonshine,1/4 cup of my pork rub....... very good!


Next is the dillo eggs.....


Next is my world famous bbq beans...


And finally is my wifes to die for potato salad....

Looks good... Im gonna try my hand at a pair of butts in 2 weeks for my wifes daughters bridal shower. Wish me luck
