Howdy, my name is Brett and I live in McKinney, TX (on the north side of the Dallas metroplex).

I have been grilling for years on a variety of grills (in-ground natural gas grill at my parent's house, Weber Kettles with charcoal, the little in ground charcoal grills at camp sites, and finally my very own Weber  propane 3-burner grill), but I have never owned a smoker. Although I have been wanting one for several years.  I have gone so far as trying to use the cast iron smoker boxes in the gas grill, but never got the results I was wanting.  So I am still a smoker newbie....

But last week my in-laws neighbor gifted me his Smoke Hollow No. 5 because he got a new smoker and needed to make room in the back yard.  Fast forward to this weekend and my first smoking foray...rack of baby back ribs, tri-tip and corn on the cob.  Had the in-laws over and they and my wife all raved.   Hopefully they weren't just being nice.  But it could have also been the margaritas that I provided....LOL.

Looking forward to getting to know you all virtually and benefiting from the collective knowledge here, and hopefully being able to contribute...
