One of our local stores started carrying tamale pots!!! $27.99!!! So I picked one up the other day. Primarily because I wanted to cut the bottom out of one to compare to just having the holes drilled. Then I had the brilliant idea of stacking the two pots. I haven't tried it yet, but may this weekend just for fun!
Hoffritz 32 QT. Fits to the body of the Smokey Joe perfectly. And the smokey Joe lid fits perfectly too.
Drilled a hole in the center and stuck a bamboo skewer in it for a pivot point for a simple protractor (teaching the boys some ways to do things without tools.)
Cut the bottom out of the pot and made a matching cut on the lid
Bolted to the two together
I've been happy with the grill heights in the other pot so I set the support nuts for the grate at 4 1/4" down from the rim.
There it is the double decker Mini-WSM! Since the pot on the top has the bottom cut out, the space between the upper grate in the bottom pot and the lower grate in the upper pot is about the same as just having the lid on.
