My cousin requested that I bring Hot wings for our fishing trip this weekend. We don't get whole wings here very often so I was certain that the frozen bulk bag of sections was going to have to do. I always make a quick trip through the meat department in my way to the freezer section just in case.  a There they were, 6 packages of whole wings!!  I scooped up all 6 packages and headed for the check out!!!

Put 4 packs in the freezer and held out two for the weekend, 12 wings per pack, Not very big though...

Pretty typical price for here.

Franks hot sauce, waiting for the creole butter

Injected and marinated over night. Dusted with Chipotle, garlic, mustard, cayenne, paprika, salt and pepper

Pre-smoke Bear view!

Into the fire. Kingsford briquettes, apple wood. 275*-285*. Both racks full!

Out of the fire

Wangs!!!!!

Those Chicken Arms look nice!

Looking great, I found some whole wings at Restaurant Depot a while back, but didn't come out looking nearly as nice as those.

I hope they're good, I only sampled one! It was good, the big test will be Saturday. The nice thing about injected wings is they aren't messy so they make a perfect meal for on the go food!

Those are beautiful.  I have a pak of 24 in the freeer that I will be doing soon and will be using your same method of injecting and smoking.  That is a great way to do wings.  $2.49 a pound is robbery for chicken wings.  They are the same price here too.  I can buy drumsticks for .99 a pound.  The chicken industry found out that we all like hot wings so they have decided to make us pay for them.  That same thing happened with flank steak years ago.  We should all stop buying them for about six months and they would get real.  What is in a wing that isn't in a drumstick?

Yeah they are a bit pricey! We have a hard time finding whole ones here. So I normally buy the big Costco bag of frozen sections. most our meat here is higher than back East and down south. We never get .99 per pound pork butts!

Good luck on your fishing trip......hope you catch your limit.

 Also those wings look good
one of my favorite lines to use when I was a guide. "skipper whats the limit?" "How ever many you catch before the days over!" "skipper how's the fishing?" "The fishing's fantastic, it's the catching that's slow!"

I started doing whole wings for every Broncos game during the streak last year. My wife still has me making them regularly :)

Those turned out real good. I love injecting wings. That price is crazy, but I guess when you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for crab like the rest of the country, it all evens out! ;-)
