First smoke last week.... And three more since...

I've been wanting to learn to smoke for a couple years now, after getting pretty good on a grill. I looked and read any and everything I could about smokers and finally settle on a smaller size charbroil from WalMart. I wanted the style with the offset fire box and found one for $90.

A good friend of mine suggested a pork butt as a first smoke so I did. I also added 2 chicken breasts. I must say I was rather disappointed with the butt. Great flavor around the outside but none inside. So the very next day researched injection recipes and found one that sounded good and tried it. Wow, what a difference!! I have smoked twice more since then, throwing some baby backs on as well and have been very happy with the results.

So now I'm hooked. The grill may as well be retired now. II love the flavor of the smoke so much!! Just wanted to share that with everyone!

I've tried two different recipes. The first included apple juice, water, salt, sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. The second was simply apple juice mixed with a pork rub I bought from the grocery store. Both were very good. The second one I injected before it went on the smoker and again about half way through. I think the most recent was the tastiest..
