I smoked my first butt yesterday and made pulled pork. Followed the directions in the basic pulled pork smoke thread and used a variation on the finishing sauce.  Everything went pretty well. I think the thing weighed around 6.5 lbs but I'm not really sure, it came as part of two pack, and total time in the cooker was rite around 12 hours.  Here are some photos.

Here it is all seasoned up after sitting in the fridge over night. I used mustard to help keep the rub stuck to the meat.

Here it is in the smoker after about 8 hours, the internal temperature at this point was around 165 and I was about to foil it.

Foiled and back into the cooker to an internal temp of 200, then I wrapped it in a towel and stuck it in a cooler for an hour.

Here it is ready to be pulled, it was so tender it started falling apart while I was unwrapping it from the foil

An here is the finished product. Sorry for the blurry photo. I pulled it with my hands and mixed in a little finishing sauce.  The wife had some last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. Going to be having it for dinner tonight with my parents, hopefully it goes over well.

"I pulled it with my hands"

Looks good. I pull with turkey forks. the large tines leave you with bigger chunks and very easy to hang onto. Inexpensive and sold almost everywhere. Much easier on fingers.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Maple Sticks: I have a pair of big rubberized heat resistant gloves (they were recommended on the forums somewhere). Because they are rubberized I can wash them in the sink with dish soap and wear them to do things like pull apart meat.  They worked great and cleanup was easy, just "washed my hands" wearing the gloves afterwards.

Wow!  That looks beautiful.  And you make it sound so easy too.  No drama, no tears...all went according to plan.  Really nice job!
