Well I've been lurkin and thought I would finally pipe in and say hello.

My name is Bo and I live in Northern Az. I'm a family guy, Jesus lover and love to play in the Man Cave! But who doesn't right? I will post a picture of the man cave later!

So for my smoker, well I built what I guess you would call a vertical smoker! Kind of a hybrid per say. I used a propane burner to heat a hot plate at the bottom which I put wood chunks on. Once it starts smoking the burner is turned way down to just keep the plate hot enough to maintain smoke and temp. The cylinder I used is about 48 in tall with a 30 in diameter. Fabbed up a door and some shelves and whala. The vessel is SS .250 wall. Holds heat pretty good.

So far I've done baby backs, beef ribs (my fav) pork butt, brisket, beef tri tip, jalapeno poppers, turkey, and a prime rib.

Here is a couple pics.

Bo, morning and welcome to the forum.... Nice smoker.... Looks to be a good cooking unit.....  I like the cantilevered door access...   Great job and engineering.....  Looks like we both like our meat cooked and some "twitch" left in it...    Dave

Thanks guys! Goin for the mother load. Starting it up at 2 am for 8 pork butts for a wedding rehearsal. Little nervous about the cold weather. Gonna be in the mid 20's when I start. Should be fun!
