My Anniversary is friday June 1 (27 years :yahoo: )
my wife wants a steak dinner. So i'm going to find
The best, thickest steaks i can . Going to smoke them
On low heat to get some smoke in them then on the hot grill
To finish them .
So what the best steak ? T-bone ? New York strip ?
Any other ?

This weekend we had beef loin tenderloin steaks. We had the butcher cut them 2" thick. They were between 4-5" in diameter. Make sure you have the butcher cut them the same thickness. When my wife buys a "two pack", they always have one steak thicker than the other and it drives me nuts. That's why we had him cut them special for us.

BTW- We didn't need more than a butter knife to cut them. I smoked them with mesquite.

Good luck and happy anniversary! Our 30th is on June 4th.

The one you eat while looking across the table into the eyes of the woman you've spent the last 27 years getting to know.

My point, is, it's not the meal, it's the person with whom you share it. I once spent a fortune on a Valentine's day dinner. I had dry aged ribeyes, lobster tails, grilled romaine with homemade Caesar dressing, some ridiculous dessert I can't remember.... This was seriously the meal to end all meals. And I didn't enjoy one bite of it because I was with the wrong person. By the same token a meal I'll always consider one of the best ever consisted of cheese in a can spread on stale Triscuits. Why? Because it was shared with the woman who was to become my wife while hunkered down and riding out Hurricane Isabelle.

Here's to you and your wife, and another 27 years of happiness. And then another, and another....

That sums it all up!

Yes it does !
Told my wife that I would take her anywhere for dinner.
She wanted steak on the grill. Just her and me .:yahoo:
Maybe I can get a babysitter for the 3 dogs

Congrats on the 27 years. We are there too.  I agree with the majority on the ribeye

Wow I guess I have good taste. Ribeye is my favorite too!!! I normally cook them in a cast iron skillet though.... I like it to fry itself in its own fat! I suppose I could put a skillet in the smoker though...
