My little Ukrainian steamer pot turned stove top smoker strikes again!

Today is Ukraine's version of Memorial Day (Victory Day) and they are celebrating much the same as folks in the US will in just a few short weeks.  Parades, BBQ and beer.

I mixed a lb each of ground pork and beef and added some diced onion & sweet red pepper, herbs and spices and set up the cooker with a tray of peach chips.  I also threw 6 garlic brats in.

A couple hours later I had real, honest to goodness BBQ bacon, cheddar burgers topped with some fresh spicy BBQ sauce (very close to Bullseye Raging Bull) I cooked up while the burgers were getting happy.  I made up a quick n easy tater salad, slice a homemade dill pickle into spears and started stuffin my face.

Haven't tasted the brats yet, but the burger was da bomb, nice & juicy & smokey like a good burger should be.  The sauce had just enough heat for me (I used 3 Tbs of srirachi in a 2 cup batch)without breaking into a sweat.  The bacon perfectly crispy & crunchy without falling apart and some nice shredded cheddar melted on top.

Now I have some smoked pig neck in the freezer and the extra burgers and brats will go in to keep it company later.

During a break in the kitchen action I ordered one of Tod's 6x8 AMNS and 2 lbs each of Cherry, Hickory, Mesquite & Pecan dust that will be waiting for me when LOML and I go visit my parents this July & Aug.  Baggage space WILL be made to haul it all home to Ukraine.  Can't wait to try them out on some fresh bacon, cheese, etc.

Happy Victory Day everybody!!

Great meal!  What are you going to do with the pig neck, roast/smoke it?  That should be delicious!  You could pull it too.

Already smoked and half gone.  I couldn't get the right cooking temps to do a L & S cook for PP though.  So I ended up with a smoked roast I guess you could call it.
