Hi all, I've been sort of "smoking" for the last couple of years with a smoke box on my grill. I've been wanting an actual smoker the whole time. I was walking through Lowes last Friday and the double door vertical Master Forge floor model from last year (i.e. the same as the new model but lacking the shelf on the left side) was on clearance for $109.....the new ones were $169. I came home and did a little research and went back Saturday morning and bought it. Since then I've added door gaskets to both doors and I tried to "fix" the door thermometer since I only have a single probe thermometer and won't be buying another soon. I found that the thermometer on the door of mine did not like to be "fixed"....now it is in the trash, anyone know of a reliably accurate door thermometer I can put in the hole? I bought a replacement charbroil which I'll be returning since it is 100° off from my Polder instant read.

The local Lowes doesn't have the needle valve/regulator/hose combo but the one about an hour away stocks it. I'll pick one up the next time I'm that way.

I'm trying some baby back ribs and a tri tip out today with some apple...we'll see how they turn out later

Anyone else in the mid Missouri area?

I also have the older model Master Forge. I have gone to running sand in the water pan and get much better results using that.

Welcome to SMF ! Wal Mart has thermometers in the garden section, i've had good results with em in the doors of my grills and they all seem to be within a few degrees of each other. Not the highest quality , but as long as they work... ;)
