So i wanted to try to smoke some back ribs for the first time. iv tryed to slow cook them before on a gas grill, they were edible but i felt i could do much better on my new MES30. So i went down to Costco after work and got 3 racks of back ribs in a vacume pack.
i washed them down and used a rub i found on here from Mnola917 adn let them set over night. i took off work a little early the next day becuse the excitment was killing me and i just had to get home and cook these puppys up.
I used a modified version of the 2-2-1 method because i like a little more bite to my meat, so it ended being more like 2-1.4-.30 with the last 30 mins on the gas grill on high with a liberal brushing of Sweet baby rays
Mnola917
3/8 cup Paprika
3 TBSP Brown Sugar
3/8 Cup Dry Mustard Powder
1 1/2 TSP Garlic Powder
1 1/2 TSP Celery Seed
1 1/2 TSP Sea Salt or Non-Iodized Salt
1 1/2 TSP Ground Thyme
1 1/2 TSP Ground Marjoram
1 1/2 TSP Coriander
3/4 TSP Cayenne
2 Cups Cane Sugar, or Granulated Sugar
1/2 Cup Seasoned Salt
1 TSP Ground Allspice
1/2 TSP Ground Ginger
1/4 TSP Ground Cloves
It makes about 3.5 cups. If you want a spicy variation (which I highly recommend) you can add:
2 TBSP Black Pepper
1 TBSP Cayenne
1 TBSP Dried Jalapeno Powder
i tryed the tile fix because this was my first smoke that lasted more than and hour 1/2
I got a bit busy and was unable to take any pictures of the meat in the smoker..sorry folks
Dont mind my sloppy mess of sause and the apple juice!
i have to say, even though these were the first ribs i have ever slow cooked all i can say is omg i need more!
Thanks for all the help guys i coulds have done it with out this forum!
