I've seen it, took a good look at it.

I thought,  if you want a gas grill buy a gas grill, if you want a smoker buy a smoker.  Then I remembered that I thought kind of the same thing when Wallmart added Grocery Stores and Banks. You know if you want to go to the grocery store, go to the grocery store.

If you can run the gas and the smoke at the same time it might be pretty neat

Pretty cool

That pretty neat, you could flip the chicken from the smoker to the grill. I don't have one but would get one if I had the room.

So has anyone purchased one of these? I have the room. Looks interesting but new to smoking (i.e. - have not done any yet).

Would like the feature of a "grill" and the smoker... want some charcoal flavor? Can do that also.

Thanks for reading, Dan

Start watching for it to go on clearance it's getting to be that time of year.I haven't see any bad post about smokey hollow smokers. But still no first hand experiences.

My wife got me one of these for my birthday back in February.  I haven't used the smoker very much simply because i don't know what I'm doing.  However, I do think that it's well made.

Sorry it took so long to respond.  For some reason I'm not getting email notifications of new posts.  It happened in my roll call thread as well.

I've been really happy with it.  The only con that i can see is that a great deal of smoke and heat gets trapped and escapes through the lid on the fire box.  As you can see in the picture, if you open the lid there is a grate so you can grill on it but that keeps the heat from flowing through the smoker like it's supposed to.  There is also about 8 inches of air space between the opening into the smoker and the lid on the firebox so i think I'm just going to get some 1/8" steel plate to put under the grate to keep the heat for getting trapped in the lid.

Sounds like it needs a deflector and baffles or tunning plates.Have you thought abot running the flue down to the grate?
