30 Gallon Double Barrel Build

Well, happy to say I'm mostly done with my first build!  So far just done some ribs, a chicken (In grill mode), a couple of fatty's, and some ABT's, but it's holding temp ok- I'm cheating a bit by adding a King Kooker burner in to preheat it and if I need to recover temps, but all in all she's turned out decent for my first shot!

Did you use a kit to put this together, or did you just source everything on your own?  I'd love to have a big old double barrel like this someday, sounds like a good autumn project some year..

I actuall got the connecting pieces and the base as a kit- vogelzang makes it and can score it from northern tool.  the rest was pieced.together from various.sources including ebay and the local hardware store.

how does it work, a friend of mine who is helping me build my smoker (really just keeping me company) wants to put one together when we finish mine. is it easy to control temps?

Hello, I have just finished building one that looks more or less like yours. I was wondering if you have faced any problems controlling the temperature?

Mine reached 235 F stuck there for a bit then took a dive to 188 F. for the remaining 4 hours I never saw 235 again.

Do you know what kind of issue am I having now?
