Hello from Minneapolis, MN

Hello to the SMF,

I have been reading the posts here for the last few months and I want to say I am impressed by all the help you guys give. I found you guys when I was trying to find a smoker to buy, well I bought one J, I bought the GOSM 20 X 34 from Wallmart.

Today I just put in my first brisket, bought it from Costco #4.7, I have been pouring over your forums in the last few days to make sure I “think” I know what I am doing. Been running in and out of the house trying to micro adjust the heat and I think 5 hours later I have the smoker sitting good around 231.

The brisket is at the plateau of about 170-173 been hanging there for about a hour or 2. So I am just relaxing and letting it go. I love the Maverick ET-73 I can watch all the stats from the house!

Again you guys are great to read and one thing I like is the lack of flamers. Quote from my wife “You reading that forum again???”

First off welcome to SMF. I have to give you a lot of credit for just sitting there thru a stall. Most new guys panic & want to kick the heat up. You were born to smoke! Welcome to the party!beercheer.gif

Yeah, welcome to the SMF. Ditto what Al said, just ride it out. I swear my GF was getting jealous of SMF early on but then came the smoked goodies for dinner and I don't hear about it anymore.

welcome1.gif Hang in there with the brisky, they be a bit stubborn sometimes. Glad to have ya here.

Welcome to SMF!!!!

Since you seem to have the knowledge and most importantly the patience to ride out the brisky stall w/o jacking w/ the temps.  you will do just fine.

No need to micro manage the temps that close ,unless ya just want to.

A swing of 5° to 8° either way will not hurt anything.

Welcome to smf. Another mn to the family.
