    Cheap replacement probes for ET-733

Thanks a bunch. While I would never question someone with a Fluke (I've just got a couple of cheap Metex) is it possible it could be 100K instead of 1Meg at 25C?  I've not ever seen a 1Meg NTC thermistor and can't find one in the tables. Then again Maverick may want to have a custom sensor...

    Cheap replacement probes for ET-733

Thanks, but I still need to find out what the resistance is.  If you check the plug with an ohmeter at room temperature that will tell you the resistance: will be near 50K, 100K, etc.  If someone can check this for me I'll send them a probe for free to test (if it is 100K) when I get them in.

    Cheap replacement probes for ET-733

Can anyone tell me what resistance thermistor is used in the ET-732 probe?  I can't find it in any Maverick specs, but I do know it's not compatable with the earlier 73 of which I have and I know it has a 200K thermistor.  If you have a probe you can find the resistance with a multimeter and I...

John from the eastern edge of NC

Welcome John from another newcomer.  My brother used to have a house on the southern of Emerald Isle and we would boat up the waterway past Bogue sound up to Bearfort and Harker's island.  I remember that whole area is renown for it's boatbuilding - if only I could have traded my 18 ft. Key West...

Jumbo Mini Cheese w/ Pics (Semi Fail)

Thanks jarjarchef.  I feel like the student talking to the teacher being new here so you're very gracious.  Maybe I can add some cheese making / smoking advice as cheese, meat and beer is the perfect trilogy (maybe throwing in some pork skins and boiled peanuts).

Jumbo Mini Cheese w/ Pics (Semi Fail)

Looks like you had the Mozz and Jack on the top and the Colby and Cheddar on the bottom? Mozz is a quick melter and the heat must have accumulated at the top of the smoker to melt the two white cheeses so basically you hit critical mass and had a melt-down.  I learned a similar lesson (with the...

    Hello from RVA

Hi Timmy and Sly from another newcomer (joined today in fact).  I live in SC now but originally from Covington and with a lot of ties to the tidewater - my Mom was from Gloucester and I've got happy memories fishing on the York and Ware rivers with my Dad.  Looking forward to learning as well.

    Hello from SC

Thanks for the welcome.  I did have one technical question that I've been looking for the answer to without success.  I understand the Mavirick (Redi-Check) ET-732 dual-probe remote temperature monitor is popular.  I assume their sensor is a thermistor (not a thermocouple) but does anyone know...

    Hello from SC

Greetings from Hartsville, SC.  I have been wanting to join a "smoking" forum and was very impressed with this one.  Haven't had time yet to get caught up on all the posts yet   (wow, some really emotional emoticons you have).  I mainly cold smoke (home-made cheese mostly) so usually hang out on...
