    Yum... Put on some hickory chips cause that's what I had but here's the couple pics I have so far.  Did it a little hot since it's Sunday..and I didn't have time to stay up late in case it took way to long. Between 275 and about 300 most of the time..Put it on about 815 this morning, took it...

    I used some stubbs briquettes when i got my akorn for grilling because its what i had but food always seemed strongly of smoke, finally tried lump like they recommend and had much better result. Have not tried smoking in it yet..hopefullly will in the next couple of weeks though. I have not...

    First for those with an akorn do you use lump or briqs? Second my local lowes sells "cooking chunks" are they suitable to use in place of charcoal in an akorn??

    I picked up an Akorn with the cart from home depot a few weeks ago myself...soon as I get antoher nice weekend that I'm home I'm gonna do a test run with some lump in it and see if I can't keep the temps low and stable..maybe toss a butt on it.. :D

    Oh and i made a cover for the i take vent so i could open or close it. From what I could tell it maintained 250 no problem at all for about 5 hours on the first load of charcoal. I didnt touch it except when I added more charcoal about 5 hours and 15 minutes into it. I added probably about 5...

    I added charcoal grate to the charcoal pan, put a gasket to seal the opening around the lid amd drilled holes to vent. Also added a thermometer.

    Hickory chunks with stubbs pork rub. Also rubbed a little brown sugar on it last night
