Saying hello to old friends and checking out new smoker builds.
I dont see much going on in the build forums, either it's just that slow time of the year?.....or this economy has everyone working too much? Hmmm..
I haven't built anything in a while either, shut down the restuarant almost 4...
I leave for a little while and you all started doing it backwards again.
While the propane tank still has its legs, set it on level ground and cut your opening for the firebox. Weld on the firebox. Remove the fittings and install your plugs, NOW turn it over and it will sit level because your...
I got this one a few months back and been holding off doing anything with it thinking I might come across a virgin tank. But. Since I haven't, I'll go ahead and redo this one. Ive seen a few built like this locally, so someone must be building them and selling them around here. Obvious that it...
So, the only problem , but it's a big problem I have with the reverse flow design is the amount of drippings I get built up on the reverse flow plate/ drip pan. Running the smokers at max capacity 12+ hours a day , 6 days a week builds up 1 inch thick big chuncks of burnt up nasty crap . It...
I know, I've been MIA for a while. The new business has me working harder than ever , instead of it being a retirement gig like it was supposed to be.
Anyway, I'm at max capacity with the three smokers I currently have going and I'm still selling out way to early so I had to get another build...
Started throwing together a bulk chicken cooker last night, using bits and pieces of left over scap I had in storage. With no shop set up yet, I'm working under a tent and only have access to 110,should be interesting ..
Here is the trailer I built last night, and the 24"x 24" firebox I started..
See a lot of posts from people wondering how big a smoker to build. This one is 16" deep, 32" long. These are decent sized ( mediums) untrimmed slabs ( yes , I usually trim them but this was a last minute ideal) and some of my sausage.
Got a call today from a guy in Dalaware today, somehow he used one of my smokers last week and is asking me to build him a 500 gallon smoker.
I really don't like building anything over a 250, plus dealing with someone that far away would be too much a pain. This is, after all , just a hobby...
20 inch dia, 1/4" wall , ill put it aside for a future build, but im more interested in the end cap on the left. What a perfect circle guide for the plasma for 18" and 20" circles!
Thinking about doing another small batch of patio sized smokers this year.
Last year I did four 16" dia, 32" cc and 16" firebox cookers. Even with the problems I had with my guy that rolled the steel, I still had fun, sold three and kept one for myself and made a little money to buy a couple...
Got thinking and decided to add a rotisserie to my 120 gallon build. Looking at probably a 60" spit, 5/8" or 3/4" dia. And I need a good motor.
Only place I found anything decent was Onegrill....if anyone knows any other suppliers of good quality parts and motors, please let me know. Thinking...
Over the last few weeks I've been involved in a few discussions about BBQ paint, just though we could put one thread together that everyone can share experience and opinions in one place.
Here's where I stand; i really couldn't say exactly how many smokers/ cookers I've painted over the years...
Since I never got around to finish my home made splitter, saw this one at northern tool today and decided to give it a whirl on this oak that I've been driving around with for two weeks now
I've used silicon, and the fiberglass looking rope gaskets, but I'm really interested in trying the stainless steel braided looking gasket like what's on my kitchen stove.
I would think it would be very durable, and I like the way it's hollow and goes very flat, ....to me, this would mean that...
