Dr Oz says eating smoke meat bad

I've always been a believer in moderation. I also remember a time when they said coffee was bad for you! Like I used to say when I lived in FL, If you don't like the weather, give it a minute and it will change! I feel the same every time someone else comes out with a new claim that something is...

    Pulled Pork - Help!

I just did (4) 8 pounder's this past weekend. They took almost 22 hours to reach 195-205 IT. I agree with the other posts, the IT didn't get high enough (195-205) to pull easily. Definitely make the small investment in a digital thermometer. Because of the plateau, you can't predict by time...

Fat side up or down on butt

Depends on the shoulder. Fat side down if there's enough marbling in the cut I'm smoking and vice-verse if not. I've never had a bad one though! Kent

A question for you wood working guys about bee hives

Al, I would agree with Jerry S. I think the pocket hole with some gorilla glue will do the trick. I use the Kreg for almost all of my joinery. Let us know which way you decide to go and don't forget us when the honey starts flowing! Kent

    Digital Thermometers Necessary?

First, to the forum! I just updated my digital to the Maverick ET-73 purchased at Amazon for around $30-35 and used it for the first time a week ago and LOVE IT! I didn't have any issues with it and I didn't need to spend the additional funds for the new model that is replacing it, the ET-732...

Good afternoon to all. I seemed to have forgotten my manners and posted my first post before I properly introducing myself. I live in No VA near the base of Bull Run Mountain about 35-40 miles outside of DC and 25 miles from the Shenandoah and Skyline Drive. I've been an avid grill enthusiast...
