    Impressed with my new Fireboard

I have been looking for a controller to use on my Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn for a few years now. I even put a post on here looking for input. Nothing really caught my eye or at least pushed me to make the jump. Either fear of complexity or price or whatever I just kept doing it all by hand. I have...

    Fireboard ATC function

Wow Xendau! That seems to follow the set temp really well. This has been my main gripe with my OKJ offset. having to constantly having to adjust the air after adding wood. I've been looking at controllers for a few years but have not pulled the trigger yet. I like that the Fireboard is a multi...

    Epic Fail on Oklahoma Joe

I have an OKJ Longhorn which is very similar. I regularly do briskets and they come out well. I do agree with everyone to get your skills up on lesser items. AFTER I used it many times I did some minor tweaks to it to correct some things that did cause me difficulties. Everything I learned I...

    Masterbuilt smoker deal

I finally made it back up to Sam's an hour before the sale went off. I went with the 340G. I hope to get it assembled and broke in before next weekend. I'm planning on firing up my stick smoker to do 4 pork butts in preparation for our annual 4th of July get together. I will instead do 3 in it...

    Masterbuilt smoker deal

I agree on the points Bear. I did like the 340 base stand better. I raises it up some and has rollers. Might save a little wear and tear on my old back. True the other points are not deal breakers I agree. I will go back up today or tomorrow.

    Masterbuilt smoker deal

I finally got around to going back to Sams. The smoker the OP referenced was marked down to $224.91 with the note "last one." Believing it to be a rough life floor model I sure have my reservations. The cover over the controls (light shield) was broken. The chip holder handle was missing. The...

    Masterbuilt smoker deal

Sorry Bear. I was referring to the sale link from Sam's the O.P. was bringing up. I would like to get a electric smoker to use on ribs, fish, smaller cuts than firing up my big stick smoker when I want to run them. I have been following the MES 40 2.5 threads with interest after reading all of...

    Masterbuilt smoker deal

I saw it today and too thought it seemed like the smoker I was watching ha just dropped in price. It sure looks like a 2.5 I told myself. I just might have to snag one before they are gone soon. Then it's long threads reading to see if anything is needing to change to get optimal results.

    IGRILL 2

Probes. Half mine are crap. I need to try get them to possibly warranty them. Others on here have had luck doing so. The unit does fine for what I do. Not great range but OK.

baffle for Oklahoma Joe Highland smoker

Here's the plate I used in my Longhorn. It's for a Yoder Wichita. I also blocked down the gigantic opening between the firebox and smoking chamber to make it the size the build calculator calls for. I used some steel to fill it and direct the heat under my heat management plate. I block the...

Yoder Loaded Wichita vs the Horizon 20” RD Special Marshall

I can't speak for the Horizon but I have ran my hands over the Yoder and I like it's build. I've never smoked with it. I don't know which dealer you have been working with but our local (Wichita, KS) dealer (All Things BBQ) have always helped me with whatever I was asking. They could possibly...

Does anyone make a replacement probe for the igrill?

I have 2 or 3 of my igrill probes which read way high (100 deg or so) and I just don't think they are very durable. I don't wash the probes, I wipe them down. I don't pull or tug on the cables. I'm sure people will tell me they've had theirs for 10 years and work great but my experience is poor...

Temp Controller (blower) on an offset smoker

Good point Al. I always see people who burn charcoal talking about them but rarely do I see many stick burners mention them. Needing a 20-25 cfm fan to make it work is what I was figuring and your mention just reinforces that. Thx!!
