    Need a firebox.

Is there a calculator for figuring what size your fire box should be? I haven't located one yet so any help would be appreciated. I am building a 275 gal smoker with the firebox on the end, but not quite sure what size it should be. Thank you

Starting my build 250 gallon propane smoker with rear facing firebox.

Okie, How is your smoker coming along? I'd be interested in your progress. What are you doing for hinges on the doors? What configuration did you end up using for laying out the doors 2:00 TO 4:00? Thanks Charlie

I forgot to ask about the size of wire for wiring the PID and SSR? I also have a terminal strip and heat sink. Thank you. Charlie

    PID Questions

Dave, So with the tray or tube smoker, I could use the tube for either hot or cold smoking inside the cabinet? Or would the smoker put off to much heat for cold smoking, otherwise I was thinking about the mail box conversion for cold smoking. Would the Auber Model SYL-2352P PID work for my...

    PID Questions

I was the one with the brinkmann 110V inserts. I (assume) figure when your talking 220V 4 wire, you are talking 10-3 with ground Romex wire correct? You split the neutral and take one of the legs to L1( black) and the other neutral leg to L2 ( red) to make both your 110V circuits right? You...

    Wire racks for smoker builds

Does anyone know where you can buy SS wire racks for smokers? It would have to be kind of a custom size. Has anyone made their own? Cold rolled steel rod probably wouldn't be a good idea would it? Thanks Charlie

    PID Questions

Dave, What kind of Amps do you think those 1500W elements will draw, Would it be safe for 25amp breaker or should I go larger? What do you think about a sliding plate over the holes to control the air intake at the bottom and top? Say like 1 1/2" dia holes maybe 3-4 hole in line. Should I get...

    Water in the smoker

I do boil my water with all the herbs and veggies before I put in the smoker so the heat does not take to long to get up where I want it. Thanks for your input. Charlie

    Chicken and Pork Tamales...

I am going to try that this year. Did you order your red chili online? I found some at Wegmans where I live in northwest Pa., but there only a few in each bag. I was trying to get them from Hatch NM. but I haven't heard back from them yet. I'd like to make mine after Thanksgiving, maybe even...

    PID Questions

Dave, How thick should I make the insulation for the sides and top? What about the bottom, how about cement board? Is 4" stove pipe big enough for the top vent? Then I was thinking having a series of holes on the opposite side at the bottom for the draw. Thanks Charlie

    Water in the smoker

I have no way to control temp in my brinkmann smoker with the electric insert. I wrap it with insulating blanket when its cold and hope for the best and keep checking to when it's done. I'm going to put a regular thermometer to see what the temp is and I'd like to integrate a PID into it all...
