I'm into 15hrs and hit the stall at 195. Hasn't burned much lump at all. It's amazing how little it burns.
Last night I did the temp chasing thing , need to just leave it alone !!! That's what I learned last night ! Finally stopped screwing with It and it settled at 235. I haven't foiled it...
Just a little nervous. Last time I smoked a bone in shoulder that was 8lb in my electric mes and it was about 16 hr total. But I really want to try the Akron with the lump charcoal and wood chunks. I also got a tip top temp control that seems to work.
I would of gotten a bone in butt but that...
Did you let it just stabilize for awhile ? Did you leave the drip pan in ? I never check my temps all over like that. I would think it would be hotter around the element or chip basket.
I've been the smoke smokinator route , seriously before you buy go on you tube and check the Akorn out. Or big green egg in your rich. I never understood the love affair with Kamados until I got one. Seriously I'm not bulling you.
I'm telling u right take weber back and get the Akorn Kamado smoker / grill.
I have the mes 40 by and it's nice and the weber kettle for 8 years. But I just wish I had bought a Kamado years ago , I would of never gotten anything else. I can smoke for 12-15 hrs easy on one load of lump and still...
I'm doing a 10lb Boston butt in a Akorn Kamado. I'm figuring about 1.5 hours per pound @225 , is that about right ? I bought a tiptop temp controller and tried out all day Saturday and it really seems to lock the temp in.
Planning to start at 11 the night before to eat at 4 the next day. Is...
Thing about the Kamado is that it uses very little charcoal , u can fill it up and do a 12-15 hr smoke and still have some left over. I never paid much attention to these until my kid bought one. Now I'm a believer.
Like I said I'm happy with my mes 40!with the amnps, but it'll probably sit in...
I have a mes 40 and it works great. .... But I jus got a chargriller Akorn Kamado cooker and absolute love it. I just wish I had got one of these years ago.
And yes I think wood junks and charcoal taste better.
So easy to regulate the Akorn , uses very little lump charcoal. I can smoke do...
I just don't understand the problem with using the amnps with the new mes Bluetooth ??? Mine works fine, I don't raise or anything else just light using a charcoal fire starter and let it sit for about 20 min Then I just put in and it's good to go.
Seriously what's the big deal ? Endless post...
My son has the newest model and it doesn't leak at all. I think they've improved it from previous versions or he just got lucky. The cheapest do far is 329.00 I'm hoping they go on sale for Labor Day.
My son got the Akorn and I am impressed with it. Can believe how it holds the heat and how little charcoal it uses.
I have a mes electric that I really love , but I still don't think you can beat the flavor when cooked in a charcoal smoker. I always wanted a egg but just to expensive.
