My new toy! Peoria Custom Cookers 24x48 Backyard

I guess that sums up to be around the ballbark if you were thinking of getting the insulated firebox and a trailer option.  I too noticed that there is broad range in price depending on the options.  Initially, I was just considering getting the non-insulated options, so long as it would match...

Got a call that the smoker's almost done.  I'll be picking it up in a little over a week.  :)

Thanks Krisby.  I talked more with Sara Beth about all the little details.   I'm excited.  Little nervous about trailering it home, but I've been doing my research to prepare.  Sara Beth mentioned that if I scheduled a pick up date, but the weather went south, it would be no problem to...

    New smoker

Jimmy, I'm new here too.  Saw the smokehouse and wanted to say that thing looks awesome.  There's a place near where I live that is called Old World Wisconsin, it's a sort of "living museum" where they demonstrate how early Wisconsin settlers lived, their houses, stores, etc.  It's pretty...

Ewww, now that I think about it more, yeah, no chicken on top at the same time.   Especially if chicken would go on near the end of the cooking time of a brisket, now your talking the possibility of fresh fowl juice on a brisket if you're not careful.  Actually, since brisket needs to rest...

Hi Joe, Thanks for the welcome.  I appreciate the tip about the drip pan for food on the top rack.  I didn't even think about that.  (Hmmm, my mind is already imagining making some sort of aqueduct system to route grease drippings straight to the bottom of the cold side of the chamber, lol)...

Thanks for the welcome Mike.  I really am happy with how chicken comes out on the Weber, and the similar WSM dome design I think would do them as well or better I would imagine.    If I can get my chicken to come out the same on the Peoria, I'll be happy.   However, there are a few things that...

Hello all, Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum.  My cooking started out with the traditional 22 inch Weber kettle for mostly grilling.  Over the years I became interested in BBQ, after I got good at making BBQ /smoked chicken thighs indirectly on the Weber.  My family loved the chicken...

My new toy! Peoria Custom Cookers 24x48 Backyard

Welp, I've done gone and did it.  I ordered the PCC backyard model with insulated firebox, and a few other options.    Now the waiting.  Hoping for clear weather when it comes time to go pick it up.

My new toy! Peoria Custom Cookers 24x48 Backyard

I was curious about one more thing on the Peoria Backyard that I forgot to ask.  Is the "grease dam" right next to the firebox welded all the way across, instead of just stitch welded?  I'm wondering because I think it would be great if the smoke chamber could hold some water without it leaking...

Krisby, Thanks for the update on the PCC.  That turkey looks absolutely perfect, and that's coming from someone who just got done stuffing himself (again) with Thanksgiving  leftovers.  I also wonder why they got rid of the counterweight on the door.  I suppose having a heavy door makes it...

My new toy! Peoria Custom Cookers 24x48 Backyard

Hi all, I'm a new member here that is considering a Peoria Custom Cooker 24x48 Backyard.   I'm bumping this thread hoping to get some updates from owners to check into long term satisfaction (especially if there has been time to learn the equipment).   Not much customer info out there on...
