    Need help with aTurkey Smoke

Hey everyone,  I was looking to smoke my first turkey but wasn't sure how to proceed. Used a lot of the tips and some tweaked recipes out of this thread, and it turned out pretty dang tasty! I just wanted to send out a big THANK YOU for all the help the members on here provide. Ladd Here's a...

    Dinner tonight

I decided to smoke a few homemade burgers and bake some potatoes tonight. The burgers smell delicious! Pretty simple, just beef, burger seasoning, a touch of evoo, and some pecan smoke. Now if the potatoes would just hurry up and get done I could eat!

    Second smoke

I should add that my Longhorn is actually SLIGHTLY modded. I have sealed the lids with some high temp RTV. That thing leaked like a sieve during my seasoning fire. the RTV is doing great on the SC lid, but I might switch over to Nomex on the FB. It's having a hard time coping with that much...

    Second smoke

Well, I'll admit I had the smoker running a bit hotter than I really wanted but the fire was acting so nice for me I didn't want to try too hard to get the temp down much. My luck I would have waited just a little too long and lost the coals. I wanted to make it through a cook without adding...

    Second smoke

Hey guys, I did my second smoke during the day Saturday. Today was going to be a test. My list had a few items on it: a brisket, a butt, ABTs, a fatty, and some ears of corn. Everything except the brisket was a first attempt. Judging by how fast my guests devoured everything, it must have turned...

    Howdy from Texas

Yeah, PK filled up in the big rounds of rain we got this spring. Right now it's sitting at 999.29 feet, so less than a foot below "full." Pretty much everything east of Abilene is likely either full or still somewhat in its flood pool. The drought was rough but if the lakes had been full...

    Howdy from Texas

Foamheart, you're right. I can blink a few times in my town, and still not miss it. I just meant we aren't in a huge place like Ft. Worth or (shudder) Dallas. Close, but at least still at arm's length, figuratively speaking. I'm beginning to think that Char-Broil lied to me about my OKJ. None...

    Howdy from Texas

Well, that may be true! But in the back of my head is an old saying: It's better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. I just know I've got a lot of learning to do, but if I see something I know about I'll probably chip in. If I'm confused, I'll probably ask the...
