    Steaks on Salt Block

I am inclined to agree with you. Great for photos/presentation. Little else.

    Steaks on Salt Block

Yesterday I decided to grill the last 2 steaks I had left in my freezer from a bulk order I received several months ago. One was a petite filet. I think the other was a sirloin. I let it sit in my pellet smoker for about 45 minutes at 200. Then I transferred it to my gas grill on a salt block...

    Rec Tec Customer Service

Very true. I was a bit skeptical of pellet grills before I got one. Even now I know it probably wont last as long as if I bought a stick burner, but I also use it alot more often than I would a stick burner because it's so easy. I frequently cook whole meals on it. When the weather is nicer I...

    Rec Tec Customer Service

Controller. The temperature up/down buttons stopped working. Looked like some moisture got in there even though I use a cover.

    Rec Tec Customer Service

The controller for my Rec Tec RT-680 started having some issues a couple weeks ago. I called up Rec Tec and they sent me a new one, no questions asked. Rec Tec's exact response was, "weird things happen, but that's what the warranty is for." I am very impressed with their customer service and...

    Pellet Grill in the Rain

Anyone know if it's ok to use a pellet grill in the rain? I'm doing a turkey on thanksgiving and there's rain in the forecast.

    Meat-a-Palooza

What is the benefit of leaving off the mustard, besides just saving it? I always put on mustard to help the rub stick. Luckily I did just smile at my wife, and made her manhattan with a heavy handed pour of whiskey!

You're welcome. Post some pictures when you're done. I have a cross rib roast in the freezer. I'd like to see how yours turns out.

    Paint Peeling on Rec-Tec

I love my Rec-Tec, but have had a lot of paint peeling issues after a grease fire several months ago. Anyone else have problems with paint peeling issues? I've been told Rec-Tec will send me some high heat paint for free, but haven't had time for this project yet. This is a project I'm not...

Help with chuck roast cross rib

If you're going to slice it, definitely do not go as high as 209. You'd only go that high if you want to shred it. If you like medium rare, take it off when it gets to 125 and let it rest for awhile before you slice it.

    Meat-a-Palooza

I wanted to smoke a standing rib roast for New Years Eve dinner, so I went to Costco a few days earlier and accidentally brought home a lot more meat than that. Since I was taking some time off from work for the holidays, I decided to spend a couple of days smoking a lot of the meat to freeze...

    St. Louis Pork Ribs

Looks great! I've done 3-2-1 for a long time, but I'm going to switch to a straight smoke. I like more of a bite too. I'm also of the opinion ribs are way better the next day.

    Your Opinion is Needed!

I made the upgrade a few years ago from an MES-30 to a Rec-Tec. I chose Rec-Tec due to the ceramic igniter and the long warranty. I couldn't be happier with it. Most people seem to recommend whichever brand they're most loyal to. Everyone has their opinions on which features are most important...

Thank you SonnyE. I'll check out the Presto. I'll also see if I can find a range cow somewhere :).

    Shoe Leather Jerky

Looks like I'll have to look into getting a dehydrator.
