    Yea just call masterbuilt and they will probably send you a new heating element or digital head unit. I ended having to buy a new unit but they offered me one at a good price. Good luck and hope you get it fixed up.

    thanks mule69 if it keeps up I plan on doing that but it only seems to do it the first couple times I turn it on but its still a pain in the butt, I completed a four hour smoke today without a problem so hopefully I got the problem taken care of by taking off the top unit and  hooking it back up.
