I just got the Inkbird IBQ-4T which is wifi and for $100 (looks like it has a 10% off code in this thread), it is well worth it. It is way cheaper than some of those other expensive wifi thermometers, has 4 probes, the app works great, and you won't have to worry about losing connectivity as...
They come all nice and packed in the original box but it is not very easy to get 4 probes back in there to store each time. Do you guys have any good methods for storing your probes and thermometer?
How does monitoring the temperature work on something like this with indirect heat? I imagine on the indirect side where the chicken is, the temperature at the grate is going to be different than up higher where most of the chicken is. Would I put a probe on the grate right next to the chicken...
Thanks for the great ideas. Just to be clear, since I have not used the smoker tube yet, I will want to put that on the same side as the chicken (the side with indirect heat), right? What temperature do you usually get the inside of the grill up to? About 300?
I have always just cooked a beer can chicken on my gas grill using a stand and letting it drip into the grill. I will be cooking one for the first time on my new Weber gas grill using an Amazen tube so that should come out even better. I am wondering if it is best to stand it up in a metal pie...
Well, the most would probably be about 50-60 feet inside a house and in a basement though. Lots of walls and floors in the way. Plus the grill sits on my deck with a chimney between it and wherever I go so there is that masonry to deal with too. So I guess the other consideration here is...
Thank you. This helps me out as well. I was worried about the bluetooth throughout the house so I narrowed it down to the RF and Wi-Fi. I think I am leaning towards the RF now, as it seems the Wi-Fi may be an overkill and less stable than the RF.
After going back and forth on here and doing some research, I think I have narrowed it down to these two. I am just too worried about the range of Bluetooth if I were to go inside, down to the far end of the house so am probably better off with an RF or WIFI. These two are just $25 apart and...
I hear you. Graphs and stuff on the phone seem cool and your phone is always with you, but I wonder if it will be easier to just have a separate device. But then again, that is another device to carry around. The igrill3 seems convenient in that it would just stay attached to the grill all...
Wifi does seem like a much better option but for the amount of times I would use it, those are way too pricey. Around $50 or so is more in the range for me.
