I am from Western Washington!

Seattle area!

I have no experience in pulled Pork, smoking.

My daughter is marrying into farming, hunting, fishing. I am from the city.

We have an uncle of the groom donating and raising a hog for a 6.6.15 wedding. I am trying to figure out the Barn wedding extravaganza..party..food..dancing celebration. We are expecting 200 people & will have 225-50 lb pig to prepare. We are thinking of smoked & pulled sliders w/ sauces, skewered grilled chicken, buffet sides, appetizers, cake and bar. How many lbs of pulled pork can we expect from a 225# hog (pig)?

I really appreciate all of your experience as I move into another world of hog roasting, pig picking, pulled pork!

I am excited and need help!

Wedding mom!!

Is the 225# live or dressed weight?
Happy smoken.

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a sunny, windy and cold day in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of                    information on just about  everything   as David asked Live or Dressed

well a few more questions to find your answer...are you having the pig processed or someone in the family doing the butchering...or cooking the whole hog..what cuts are you going to use for pulled pork ..Boston Butt..Picnic..Whole Shoulder or other cuts ?so at 250 pound pig ( would really expect more weight )  expect about 125 pounds in processing  pork chops, spare ribs, sausage, ham,  bacon, shoulder butts, picnic roast, bones, trimmings, fat

main thing is about 125 pounds meat  little more little less

hope all goes well with the planning and wedding
