My folks are in town and love smoked food, so I figured I would end there trip up North with a smoked Pork loin. Figured it would be a good time to smoke my first one. Went to Wally World and they did not have much to choose from :( , shelves were almost empty in the meat sections.. I picked I think it was a Hormel 2-3lb? loin, also got some thick sliced bacon and headed home..

Tossed on some Taters to try some doubled smoked taters, rubbed the loin down with new a garlic/butter dry rub that we picked up. I also wrapped the loin in the thick bacon. I figured that I would toss on a few other items as long as the smoker was fired up. Tossed on some turkey dogs, cheddar dogs, chicken thighs and some venison brats.

I just gained 4 pounds lookin' at the Q Views. But then again... what's a little pork fat between friends.

I posted some pics today and had a couple of problems I hadn't had before. How did you get those pics to post so big. From photobucket .com I had to resize them to thumbnails before it would upload them.

Schultzy I smoked at 225 till it hit 160. I read on the site where some pull it at 145 and my Mom said NO way thats not high enough.. So to make her happy I left it on. I really think the thick sliced bacon made a difference, it was not dried out like the thin sliced bacon I used on a fatty last week.

phinfan I upload full sized pics to PB, they resize it for there site and then I copy the last code under the pic the IMG code and past here.
 
Photobucket allows several sizes to be posted. You just have to select the one you want.
OK, my question. You say a Pork Loin.....are you sure it wasn't a Tenderloin. My wife buys Hormels on sale all the time and I never remember seeing just a loin, always a tenderloin.

Is there a difference in a tenderloin and loin in a pig??? I just assumed it was the same thing, just easier to type loin.

I remember seeing this post and it called a loin here so I assumed that its all the same thing.. It was not one of those smaller loins they sell already marinated.
