I want to make a mini uds just for doing fattys so I don't need to fire the big uds if I'm not cooking something else, what would be a good size drum, also any tips from people who have built a mini would be appreciated
  2. I too would like to see some tips since I'm looking into making a mini uds.

    I would use a 15 gallon.

The only problem with building a mini-WSM is that the 32qt tamale pots are super hard to find anymore. The mini-WSM is hard to beat. it's a great little smoker and mine are the smokers I use the most.

i have a 18" weber kettle i dont really need anymore, perhaps ill look into turning that into something
  5. Amazon has a handful of different 32qt brands you can find.

I believe the parts and pieces on a 18" weber work hand and hand with a 30 gallon drum

I am no expert as I learn from everyone on here all the time...but here is the mini uds I just built from a 16 gallon steel drum that are free at most oil change places.

Send me a PM....I will answer any question.....I am still trying to figure out how to run mine with the smallest diffuser I I love the southern taste of the fat dripping on the coals.

The IMUSA 32qt tamale steamers are all over the place here in Texas. They are aluminum, not steel.

But all of them and sell them here! They've dried up everywhere else. The imusa isn't as good as the Vasconia, but with a bit of modification works.
